Servier has agreed to acquire Edgewise Therapeutics’ muscular dystrophy business for up to $2.65 billion, including an upfront payment of $1.55 billion and up to $1.1 billion in regulatory and commercial milestone payments. The deal centers on sevasemten, an investigational oral drug for Becker and Duchenne muscular dystrophies, which is in a pivotal cohort for BMD and a phase 2 trial for DMD. The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, after regulatory clearance and customary conditions. Servier says adding this neuromuscular program will strengthen its neurology and rare disease pipeline, while Edgewise will refocus entirely on its cardiovascular portfolio, including the heart‑muscle drug EDG‑7500.
