Sanofi is ending development of SAR448272, an oral STAT6 degrader licensed from Nurix, and stopping its Phase 1 first-in-human trial. Nurix announced the decision on November 3, about two months after the trial began in August 2026.
Sanofi reportedly cited emerging nonclinical findings that did not warrant continuing development for atopic dermatitis. The decision appears specific to this molecule, not a rejection of STAT6 as a target; Sanofi has reportedly said it still sees STAT6 as an important immunology pathway.
Nurix will forgo potential future development, regulatory and commercial milestone payments and royalties tied to SAR448272. The company remains eligible for payments from other Sanofi-licensed programs if Sanofi advances them.
The trial launch had triggered a $10 million milestone payment to Nurix. Nurix said the program’s cancellation does not change its cash-runway guidance, which it had said extended into the second half of 2029.
