Rubedo reports lower skin epigenetic-age measure and inflammatory markers after four weeks of RLS-1496
On October 12, 2026, Rubedo Life Sciences reported new Phase 1b findings for topical RLS-1496, an investigational GPX4 modulator, after four weeks of treatment.
Among 11 paired samples of photoaged skin from patients with atopic dermatitis, measured skin epigenetic age fell by a mean 2.1 years; the company reported this result as statistically significant (p=0.032).
Blood-protein analyses showed reductions in circulating inflammatory biomarkers, including CCL22, which is associated with atopic dermatitis severity. Rubedo said RLS-1496 was undetectable in the blood of most participants.
The company also reported changes in markers related to collagen production, inflammatory signaling and cellular aging. These results are preliminary findings from a short, early-stage study—not proof of lasting rejuvenation or clinical benefit. The small sample and company-reported nature of the announcement warrant caution pending fuller data and independent review.
