Lakefront Biotherapeutics, formerly Galapagos, sold its early-stage cell therapy pipeline to Belgian startup Armed Cell Therapeutics.
The deal includes €8 million upfront, up to $230 million in milestone payments, and a low-single-digit royalty for Lakefront.
The transferred portfolio includes preclinical, engineered CAR-T programs intended to improve potency and persistence and address treatment resistance in blood cancers and solid tumors. Armed Cell will develop the programs independently.
Armed Cell was formed by biotech executives including former Galapagos CEO Paul Stoffels. The sale follows Lakefront’s decision to wind down its cell therapy activities.
