On September 29, 2026, Kither Biotech announced that the first patients had been dosed in its Phase 1b/2a study of inhaled KIT2014 for moderate-to-severe COPD.
The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, dose-ranging study is being conducted at sites in Australia. It is expected to enroll 36 participants and assess three dose levels over seven days.
The main goals are to evaluate safety and tolerability. Researchers will also assess pharmacokinetics and early efficacy signals, including lung-function measures.
The dosing announcement follows a Phase 1 study in 56 healthy volunteers, in which KIT2014 was reported to be safe and well tolerated at daily doses of 0.1–2 mg for up to seven days, with plasma levels below detection.
Kither expects initial results from the COPD study by the first quarter of 2027.
