GSK has entered a broader collaboration with AI biotech Chai Discovery after evaluating its protein-folding and molecular-design models.
In the evaluation, Chai’s models generated designs for GSK targets without target-specific training. GSK then tested the designs in its labs and reported finding binders for every target tested, with strong binding affinities across a diverse panel.
GSK will gain access to Chai’s platform to support drug-discovery work across its pipeline. GSK said the tools complement its own models, which are continually retrained using its laboratory data.
The results are an early experimental validation of AI-designed molecules—not evidence that any resulting drug is clinically effective. The report notes that clinical validation remains a long way off.
