EyePoint and Enlivex announce major workforce cuts

As reported Oct. 19–20, 2026, EyePoint plans to cut about 53% of its workforce after its experimental drug DURAVYU failed to meet the primary endpoint in the Phase 3 LUCIA trial for wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The company will end its pivotal wet AMD trials early and redirect resources to DURAVYU’s development for diabetic macular edema (DME).

EyePoint expects most cuts in Q4 2026, with completion in the first half of 2027. It estimates about $9 million in separation costs and roughly $30 million in annualized savings.

Enlivex plans to reduce its workforce by about 60% as part of a cost-cutting restructuring. It is winding down non-clinical R&D and concentrating resources on Allocetra, its mid-stage cell therapy program for knee osteoarthritis.

Enlivex also announced executive pay reductions:
CEO Oren Hershkovitz’s compensation will fall 40%, and the management team’s compensation will fall 20%. Its plan is effective immediately.
