On 16 October 2026, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) said its Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) had recommended six new medicines for approval following its 12–15 October meeting. The recommendation is not final approval; the European Commission makes that decision.
The headline decision was a positive opinion for Eli Lilly’s Foundayo (orforglipron), a once-daily oral GLP-1 medicine for weight management and treatment of type 2 diabetes in adults. It would offer a pill alternative to injectable GLP-1 therapies.
The other recommendations included Rasonque (daraxonrasib) for some adults with previously treated metastatic pancreatic cancer, Yuviwel (navepegritide) for children with achondroplasia, and Kizfizo (temozolomide) for certain adults with glioblastoma and children with malignant glioma.
The October meeting also recommended approval of two additional new medicines, alongside five extensions to existing medicines’ therapeutic indications.
