Bayer plans to invest $2.2 billion in a new pharmaceutical manufacturing campus in New Albany, Ohio, at the New Albany International Business Park.
The modular site will combine production of drug substances and finished drug products, using digital and automation technologies. It will initially support Bayer medicines in oncology, cardiovascular and renal care.
The project is expected to create about 600 permanent jobs and 1,500 construction jobs. Reports say the site will occupy about 200 acres; construction is expected to begin around mid-2027.
The first manufacturing module, for drug substances, is expected to become operational in 2031. A second module for finished drug products is planned for 2034.
Bayer says the investment builds on more than $7 billion it has spent on U.S. pharmaceutical research, development and manufacturing over the past five years. The new site will complement its existing U.S. pharma locations.
