AstraZeneca announced a three-year “Reshaping for Sustainable Growth” program targeting about $1.5 billion in annual savings by 2029. The company says the savings will be reinvested mainly in its drug pipeline and transformative technologies.
The company has more than 180 projects in development and is pursuing its goal of $80 billion in annual revenue by 2030.
The plan may involve eliminating some roles and reorganizing or retraining staff, while adding roles in other areas. Executives say they do not expect a net reduction in the workforce.
AstraZeneca expects up to $2 billion in one-time restructuring costs. It gave few details about where savings or staffing changes will occur.
The announcement accompanied stronger-than-expected third-quarter results; reports said the company maintained its 2026 outlook.
