On October 20, 2026, AstraZeneca and Oracle announced a non-binding agreement to explore using AI and real-world health data to improve clinical research and connect research insights with everyday care.
The companies aim to help care teams identify suitable clinical-trial participants sooner, while also exploring earlier diagnosis, drug-safety monitoring, and the use of real-world evidence to inform care and future studies.
Their first planned programme, with Abu Dhabi-based healthcare company M42, will focus on uncontrolled hypertension:
identifying patients, supporting care in line with guidelines, and improving clinical-trial recruitment.
Further projects are expected to be explored in the US, Middle East, and Europe, across areas including cancer; cardiovascular, kidney and metabolic diseases; respiratory and immune conditions; and rare diseases.
The announcement describes plans to explore use cases—not a proven or fully deployed AI system. The companies did not disclose financial terms.
