RegCell raises $66 million to advance T-cell reprogramming

RegCell announced $66 million in combined financing:
a $44 million Series A and approximately $22 million in non-dilutive funding from Japan’s Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED).

The Series A was led by Playground Global, with participation from Global Brain, Mitsui Chemicals, LG Technology Ventures, Alumni Ventures, Medical Incubator Japan, and existing backers including UTEC, Fast Track Initiative, Osaka University Venture Capital, and Kyoto iCAP.

The funds will support IND-enabling work and advance RegCell’s epigenetic reprogramming platform toward clinical development in autoimmune diseases.

RegCell aims to convert disease-driving CD4+ T cells into stable, antigen-specific regulatory T cells (Tregs), which could restore immune tolerance without conventional gene editing.

The company plans to expand its pipeline into a second autoimmune indication and take that program through a Phase 2 proof-of-concept study. The announcement brings AMED’s total non-dilutive commitment to RegCell to roughly $59.3 million.
