ReCode CEO Suliman passes cystic fibrosis mission to Heather Clark

ReCode Therapeutics has undergone a leadership transition in which Shehnaaz Suliman stepped down as CEO and moved into the role of executive chair of the board.

Heather Clark, who had been senior vice president and head of ReCode’s cystic fibrosis franchise, became CEO on July 1, 2026.

The shift was announced alongside new funding from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and a collaboration with a leading gene-editing company to advance cystic fibrosis programs.

Clark is positioned to carry forward ReCode’s cystic fibrosis mission, including work on RCT2100, an inhaled mRNA therapy for CF that has FDA Fast Track Designation and was in Phase 2a with enrollment completed.

Suliman said she would continue providing strategic and operational guidance, while Clark said she was honored to lead the company at a pivotal moment for patients.
