Novo Nordisk has begun using “Novo” as its day-to-day name, while Novo Nordisk A/S remains its legal corporate name. The rebrand is built around the slogan “Lasting Health Starts Now,” refreshed branding, and a modernized version of its historic Apis bull logo.
The change is paired with an internal cultural program, “The Novo Way,” centered on customer obsession, competitiveness, clarity, and care and integrity. Management says this is meant to improve speed and focus in a more consumer-driven obesity-drug market.
The timing is strategic:
Novo is under pressure to regain momentum against Eli Lilly in obesity and diabetes treatments, after market-share challenges, leadership change, and share-price weakness reported by several outlets.
Is it authentic? There is a plausible substantive element because the company is coupling the visual overhaul with explicit operating and cultural changes. But the rebrand itself does not solve the core issue—drug innovation, supply, pricing, commercial execution, and competitive performance. Until those show measurable improvement, calling it a turnaround would be premature.
Bottom line:
more than mere logo polish, but not yet proof of transformation. It is best viewed as a signal and a framework for a turnaround—not the turnaround itself.
