Novartis said it could cut about 130 jobs in Switzerland as it reorganizes its biologics operations in Basel.
The company plans to stop small-volume biologics production at its Kleinbasel site by the end of 2027.
Laboratory work tied to biological cell banks, analytical testing and technical development will be moved to the Novartis campus in Basel by the end of 2028.
Novartis said the production work will shift to other biologics sites in its existing manufacturing network, specifically in Europe.
The move is linked to expiring leases at the Kleinbasel site and a previously announced plan to build a new biologics technical development center on the Basel campus.
The job reductions are still subject to consultation, and Novartis said it will support affected employees with measures such as job centers, early retirement and a social plan.
