Merck has secured exclusive worldwide rights to SciBrunch Therapeutics’ SPR2015, an investigational oral drug aimed at the KRAS G12D mutation.
The deal includes $400 million upfront, with potential development and commercial milestones bringing its total value to $2.13 billion. The transaction has closed.
SPR2015 is still preclinical—not yet tested in people. Merck and SciBrunch report encouraging laboratory activity in KRAS G12D-mutant cancer cells, but its safety and effectiveness in patients remain unknown.
The move expands Merck’s precision-oncology pipeline. KRAS G12D is a cancer-driving mutation found in tumors including pancreatic, colorectal and lung cancers.
Merck expects to record a $400 million pretax charge, about $0.13 per share, in its third-quarter 2026 results.
