EQT Foundation backs 11 brain drug-delivery research projects

EQT Foundation announced on September 30, 2026, that it has committed more than €1 million to 11 research projects seeking better ways to deliver medicines to the brain and central nervous system.

The projects span 10 research institutions in the Netherlands, Belgium, the United States, and Canada. Individual grants are described as providing early, flexible funding to help researchers generate evidence and move promising ideas toward further development.

Researchers are exploring approaches including engineered biological carriers, molecular shuttles, gene-therapy vectors, nanoparticles, and AI-designed delivery technologies.

The work targets the blood-brain barrier, which protects the brain but also prevents many potential treatments from reaching it. Better delivery could broaden options for neurological, neurodegenerative, cancer, and rare genetic diseases.

The grants are part of EQT Foundation’s Science program, which supports early-stage climate and health technologies.
