Basecamp Research raises $140 million to advance AI-designed medicines

Basecamp Research has raised $140 million in an oversubscribed Series C round led by S32, valuing the company at approximately $800 million.

NVIDIA and Anthropic’s Anthology Fund participated, alongside the NATO Innovation Fund, Rockefeller Foundation, Catalio Capital Management, True Ventures and other investors.

The London-based biotech plans to use the funding to train the next generation of its EDEN biological foundation models and move AI-designed therapeutics toward clinical development.

Basecamp’s initial focus is in vivo cell therapy—reprogramming patients’ cells inside the body—which could reduce the manufacturing complexity and cost associated with conventional engineered-cell treatments.

EDEN is trained on Basecamp’s proprietary Trillion Gene Atlas, built from biological and genomic data gathered through partnerships in more than 30 countries. The company says its models can generate therapeutic candidates from disease information.

The pipeline reportedly spans cell, gene and peptide therapies, with potential applications in cancer, autoimmune disease, liver disease and diabetes. However, the programs remain preclinical, and no specific clinical-trial timetable was announced.
