BARDA offers SCYNEXIS up to $214 million for antifungal SCY-247

SCYNEXIS announced on September 28, 2026, that BARDA awarded it a contract to advance SCY-247, its second-generation “fungerp” antifungal candidate.

The contract provides about $18.5 million in initial funding to advance oral and intravenous SCY-247 toward a Phase 2 trial in patients with invasive candidiasis.

The total could reach approximately $214 million if BARDA exercises all options. Those options could extend the contract for up to 10 years, so most of the potential funding is not guaranteed.

If fully exercised, the contract could support development through potential FDA application submissions for treating invasive candidiasis and preventing invasive fungal infections in high-risk patients.

The arrangement is cost-share funding for eligible development expenses. The award is non-dilutive, but SCY-247 remains investigational; clinical and regulatory success is not assured.
