Vitruvias shuts down after thyroid-drug recall as Baxter expands injectable recalls

Vitruvias Therapeutics has ceased operations after voluntarily recalling one lot of Thyroid Tablets, USP 30 mg. Its products are reportedly being transferred to H2-Pharma.

The recall covers lot 504950 (NDC 69680-166-00), which testing found could be superpotent. About 3,655 units were distributed and 1,955 sold nationwide; the expiration date is September 30, 2026.

The company says it has received no reports of adverse events linked to the recalled lot. Patients should not stop taking the medication without consulting their healthcare provider.

Baxter International has expanded recalls involving injectable products that may contain particulate matter, including fiberglass in 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection and Anticoagulant Sodium Citrate Solution, and stainless-steel particles in 70% Dextrose Injection.

Baxter says customers should stop distributing or using affected lots and return them. Available reports indicate no related adverse events had been received at the time of the notices.
