Sandoz has signed a strategic collaboration with Shanghai Henlius Biotech to develop, manufacture and commercialize up to 10 biosimilar assets, with total consideration of up to $322 million, including near-term payments of up to $100.5 million.
The initial three assets are proposed biosimilars of Eli Lilly’s cetuximab (Erbitux), Amgen’s evolocumab (Repatha), and GSK’s belimumab (Benlysta), with options to expand to as many as 10 biosimilars and an additional recombinant human hyaluronidase component.
Sandoz will hold global commercialization rights outside China, while Henlius will be responsible for development and manufacturing, expanding Sandoz’s biosimilar pipeline to 39 assets with potential to reach 46 under the partnership.
