Osivax licenses GC Biopharma’s flu vaccine to pursue a single-shot combination vaccine

Osivax has licensed rights to use GC Biopharma’s GC FLU in combination with its investigational vaccine candidate OVX836.

The proposed single-injection vaccine would combine GC FLU’s antibody response against influenza A and B surface hemagglutinin with OVX836’s T-cell response against the conserved influenza A nucleoprotein.

Osivax will lead development and commercialization outside South Korea; Japan and Korea are excluded from the license, while GC Biopharma retains Korean rights.

GC Biopharma will supply GC FLU and receive royalties. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The strategy builds on phase 2a evidence that OVX836 could be safely administered alongside a standard seasonal flu vaccine and generate complementary immune responses.

Osivax’s longer-term goal is broader and more durable protection against seasonal, drifted, and potentially pandemic influenza strains, while reducing the inconvenience of receiving separate injections.
