Google has introduced a new suite of health features for its Pixel Watches and Fitbit Air devices that can track insulin resistance trends over time, using existing wrist‑based sensors and AI instead of drawing blood.
The insulin resistance feature, part of the Health Guardian platform, analyzes multi‑week data such as heart rate, HRV, SpO2, movement, sleep, and skin temperature to detect subtle metabolic shifts and send users monthly summaries and alerts.
This feature is not a glucose monitor or diagnostic tool but rather an early‑warning system aimed at helping users adjust lifestyle habits or seek medical advice before conditions like prediabetes or Type 2 diabetes arise.
