Silence Therapeutics has reported positive Phase 2 results for its gene-silencing drug divesiran in polycythemia vera, a rare blood cancer marked by excessive red blood cell production.
The SANRECO Phase 2 trial enrolled 48 phlebotomy-dependent PV patients and showed 88% of those treated with divesiran achieved a clinical response versus 19% on placebo.
A response was defined as no phlebotomy and hematocrit kept under 45% from weeks 18 to 36; both the every‑6‑week (93.8% response) and every‑12‑week (81.3% response) dosing groups met the primary endpoint.
Divesiran significantly reduced phlebotomy rates, improved hematocrit control and iron markers, and showed favorable safety, supporting plans for a Phase 3 trial starting in the first half of 2027.
