Eli Lilly’s Foundayo builds scripts after a disappointing Q2 amid oral GLP‑1 race with Novo Nordisk’s Wegovy pill

Foundayo generated $98 million in Q2 2026, below Novo Nordisk’s Wegovy pill’s ~$500 million for the same quarter, even though Foundayo beat street estimates of around $92–103 million.

In the U.S., Foundayo has reached roughly 20,000 treated patients; weekly scripts grew sharply from about 1,390 in Week 1 to roughly 19,879 by Week 9, helped by broader PBM coverage and Medicare Bridge access.

Analysts note a ‘slow start’ driven by first‑mover advantage for Novo’s Wegovy pill, but see an inflection in July, with Foundayo’s volume nearly doubling month‑on‑month and about 1 in 4 new patient starts now on Foundayo.

Outside the U.S., demand is strong, with Foundayo pulling in $31 million in the UAE alone in Q2, encouraging ex‑U.S. launch plans across over 40 additional countries later in 2026–2027.

Despite the Q2 disappointment relative to expectations and Wegovy, Lilly confirmed Foundayo’s clinical differentiation and is shifting into a broad direct‑to‑consumer and prescriber education phase, with Jefferies and others still modeling a potential >$1 billion annual run‑rate by 2026.
