Pfizer advances Litfulo for vitiligo in face of Incyte and AbbVie competition

Pfizer has completed positive Phase 3 trials for LITFULO (ritlecitinib) in nonsegmental vitiligo and plans to submit global regulatory filings for it as a potential new oral systemic therapy for adults with the disease.

LITFULO is already approved for severe alopecia areata in multiple markets, including the U.S., EU, Canada, Japan, China, and the U.K., positioning Pfizer to challenge Incyte and AbbVie in the emerging oral JAK inhibitor space for vitiligo.

AbbVie’s upadacitinib (Rinvoq) has recently secured approval in nonsegmental vitiligo in the EU, while Incyte’s ruxolitinib (Opzelura) dominates the topical market, setting up a competitive landscape that Pfizer aims to disrupt with an oral systemic option.
