AstraZeneca bets up to $1.9B in respiratory disease collab with Sino Biopharmaceutical - Recent News
AstraZeneca has signed a licensing deal with Hong Kong–listed Sino Biopharmaceutical for an experimental respiratory disease drug, TQC3721, valued at up to $1.9 billion, including development, regulatory, and sales milestones.
AstraZeneca will pay $200 million upfront and gains exclusive rights outside China to develop, manufacture, and commercialize TQC3721, a dual PDE3/4 inhibitor being studied for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Sino Biopharmaceutical will also receive tiered, double‑digit percentage royalties based on annual net sales; the deal marks AstraZeneca’s third major Asia collaboration this year and follows Sino’s earlier out‑licensing pact with Sanofi in February 2026.
