BMO Capital Markets, J.P. Morgan, and RBC Capital Markets analysts all say new data from Lilly's retatrutide and other pipeline assets at ADA 2026 reinforce Eli Lilly's lead in the obesity drug market.
At ADA, Lilly showed that the highest dose of retatrutide (12 mg) cut weight by 28.3% over 80 weeks and 30.3% in a subset after 104 weeks, results analysts describe as “impressive,” “game‑changing,” and comparable to bariatric surgery.
Analysts also cite Lilly’s broader obesity portfolio—Zepbound, its oral GLP‑1 pill Foundayo (forglipron), and a pipeline of next‑gen assets—as deepening its competitive edge over Novo Nordisk and others.
