Trodelvy misses lung cancer endpoint, but Gilead and Merck score HIV win with weekly combo

Gilead Sciences and Merck recently ended a Phase 3 lung cancer study testing Trodelvy plus Keytruda in untreated metastatic non-small cell lung cancer after the trial did not meet its primary progression-free survival endpoint, despite showing only a numerical improvement not reaching statistical significance and an unlikely significant overall survival benefit.

The same companies reported positive results from two Phase 3 trials of an investigational once-weekly HIV treatment combination (islatravir and lenacapavir) that maintained viral suppression comparable to the standard daily Biktarvy regimen, which is seen as a significant step toward long-acting, convenient HIV therapy.
