Regeneron doubles down on CytomX despite other pharma exits, expanding pact to up to ~$4 billion potential value
Regeneron has expanded its research and licensing collaboration with CytomX, paying $37 million to add two new targets and securing options on up to six more programs, pushing the potential value of the deal to around $4 billion.
Regeneron will fund preclinical, clinical development and commercialization of conditionally activated bispecific antibodies that remain inactive until activated by proteases in the tumor microenvironment, using CytomX’s Probody platform and Regeneron’s Veloci‑Bi platform.
In contrast with other major pharma companies such as Astellas and Pfizer, which have ended or walked away from their earlier partnerships with CytomX, Regeneron is doubling down on the company’s conditional activation technology.
CytomX has been restructuring its pipeline and workforce in recent years, but continues to maintain strategic oncology collaborations with other companies including Amgen, Moderna and Bristol Myers Squibb.
