Novocure's Phase 3 TRIDENT trial in newly diagnosed glioblastoma did not meet its primary survival endpoint, meaning that starting TTFields earlier, during chemoradiation, did not show a statistically significant overall survival benefit compared with the current standard of beginning treatment after chemoradiation.
In the intent-to-treat population, the Early Start arm had a median overall survival of 17.7 months versus 17.5 months in the Maintenance Start arm (HR 0.953; p=0.519), indicating no meaningful advantage for the earlier switch.
Despite missing the primary goal, the trial confirmed that early initiation of Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) therapy is feasible and well tolerated, and Novocure plans further subgroup analyses to explore potential benefit in selected patients.
