Lilly oncology chief Jake Van Naarden said he was initially "extremely nervous" about early Jaypirca CLL data but was later "blown away" by the strength of the results, which showed a dramatic reduction in risk of progression or death for patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
New Phase 3 data presented at the American Society of Hematology (ASH) meetings show Lilly's Jaypirca (pirtobrutinib) reduced the risk of progression or death by 46-80% compared to standard regimens in CLL/SLL, with particularly strong results in treatment‑naïve and post‑covalent BTK inhibitor settings.
Lilly's oncology leadership has also highlighted additional Phase 3 wins, including Jaypirca outperforming a venetoclax‑containing control arm in relapsed/refractory CLL and demonstrating favorable hazard ratios for progression‑free and overall survival with a manageable safety profile.
