Kyntra Bio Presents New Roxadustat Data on Improvements in Transfusion Independence Regardless of Ring Sideroblast Status in Patients with Anemia due to Lower-Risk Myelodysplastic Syndromes
Kyntra Bio (Nasdaq:
KYNB) presented new roxadustat data showing improved transfusion independence in patients with anemia due to lower-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (LR-MDS), regardless of ring sideroblast status, at the European Hematology Association (EHA) Congress 2026 in Stockholm, Sweden, on June 12, 2026.
The data come from a post hoc analysis of the Phase 3 MATTERHORN trial, in which patients with LR-MDS and high transfusion burden (HTB) receiving roxadustat showed durable and clinically meaningful improvements in transfusion independence compared to placebo.
Among ring sideroblast negative (RS-) patients in the MATTERHORN trial, 48% of those treated with roxadustat achieved transfusion independence for ≥8 weeks over 28 weeks versus 28% with placebo, indicating similar rates of benefit in both RS+ and RS- disease.
In the high transfusion burden subgroup (≥4 units of pRBCs per 8 weeks for two consecutive 8-week periods), roxadustat demonstrated higher rates of transfusion independence at 8, 12, and 16 weeks compared to placebo, supporting its potential as a treatment option for LR-MDS patients with limited current options.
