Epicrispr Biotechnologies is using "digital twins" to study a muscle disease therapy targeting facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD).
Epicrispr has developed an epigenetic editing therapy named EPI-321 aimed at increasing expression of the DUX4 gene, which is associated with FSHD, and using AI to generate early cut data showing lean muscle gains.
The use of digital twins in this context allows the company to simulate and predict how the therapy will affect muscle tissue and functional outcomes, supplementing real-world clinical data and enabling more efficient drug development.
