ADC Therapeutics has announced a workforce reduction of approximately 17% globally, affecting around 30-32 roles, following adverse clinical trial results for its blood cancer drug Zynlonta.
In the Phase 3 LOTIS-5 trial, 27 patients in the Zynlonta plus rituximab arm died compared with 9 deaths in the control arm, leading to a significant safety concern and eroding confidence in the drug's risk–benefit profile.
The company stated the reorganization is driven by the expected completion of the LOTIS-5 and LOTIS-7 studies this year and aims to generate about $10 million in annual savings, with no change to its regulatory plans for Zynlonta and a cash runway extending into 2028.
