TrumpRx, the Trump administration's prescription drug discount website, has expanded by adding more than 600 generic medications, significantly increasing the number of drugs available on the platform.
This expansion nearly sevenfold the prior catalog, which originally focused on discounted brand-name drugs and included around 40–43 medications.
The generics are being offered through partnerships with major direct‑to‑consumer platforms such as Amazon Pharmacy, GoodRx, and Mark Cuban’s Cost Plus Drugs, making them available at lower, often unsubsidized prices.
Critics note that many of the expensive brand‑name drugs previously promoted on TrumpRx already have cheaper generic equivalents elsewhere, so the value of the program for consumers depends heavily on whether patients choose generics over the brand‑name discounts.
The White House argues that TrumpRx helps Americans find the lowest prices on commonly used medications, either through direct manufacturer coupons or via partner pharmacies, but independent analyses suggest that outside platforms frequently offer comparable or lower prices without the program.
