Biogen Announces Board Chair Transition: Caroline Dorsa to Retire, Dr. Maria C. Freire Elected as New Chair
Biogen Inc. announced on February 11, 2026, that Caroline Dorsa, current Board Chair, will retire and not stand for re-election at the 2026 Annual Meeting on June 9, 2026.
Dr. Maria C. Freire, a director since 2021, has been elected as the new Board Chair, effective immediately after the Annual Meeting.
Dorsa's departure is not due to any disagreements with the Board or company operations.
Freire serves on the Corporate Governance and Compensation and Management Development Committees.
Biogen's CEO Christopher Viehbacher praised Dorsa's leadership and welcomed Freire's expertise in science and drug development.
