Lunit SCOPE AI Achieves High Concordance in HER2 Assessment for Biliary Tract Cancer

A study published December 23, 2025, in Laboratory Investigation shows Lunit SCOPE HER2 achieved 83.5% concordance with pathologists' consensus in interpreting HER2 IHC for advanced biliary tract cancer (BTC).

Pathologists showed only 62.1% agreement with light microscopy and 63.4% with digital pathology, highlighting interpretation variability.

The retrospective analysis included 309 HER2-stained slides from 291 BTC patients treated 2019-2022 at CHA Bundang and CHA Ilsan Medical Centers in South Korea.

BTC is a rare, aggressive cancer where accurate HER2 assessment is crucial for targeted therapies; AI may improve consistency, especially in low-expression cases.

Lunit CEO Brandon Suh stated AI supports standardized decision-making as precision oncology expands.
