Cellares and Taiwan-based GenomeFrontier Therapeutics announced a partnership to evaluate automated manufacturing of GF-CART01, an investigational autologous CAR-T therapy, using Cellares’ Cell Shuttle platform.
The project will assess whether GenomeFrontier’s novel virus-free CAR-T manufacturing process can be transferred to the Cell Shuttle, including its transfection step using Cellares’ integrated electroporator.
The collaboration is Cellares’ first development partnership with an Asian cell-therapy company and is intended to support GenomeFrontier’s planned U.S. clinical development of GF-CART01.
GF-CART01 is being developed for B-cell malignancies. GenomeFrontier has reported early encouraging results in Taiwan, including a complete metabolic response in the first patient in its Phase I trial; these findings are preliminary and do not establish efficacy.
Cellares says the Cell Shuttle is a closed, end-to-end automated manufacturing system designed to improve consistency, scalability, throughput, and labor efficiency compared with conventional manual or CDMO workflows.
The partnership is currently an evaluation and process-translation effort, not an announcement of regulatory approval, clinical efficacy, or commercial manufacturing.
